New Innovative Surgery to Treat Bunions

September 25, 2019 – In an interview with Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Adam D. Perler at Alexander Orthopaedic Associates of St. Petersburg says, “shoes can aggravate your feet, but bunions are hereditary.” He further explains that bunions aren’t “just a bump on the big toe but rather a three-dimensional deformity that Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ addresses which is a big advancement over how we traditionally handled bunions.”

He tells the Morning Blend host that traditional bunion surgery is “a cosmetic fix and that is why it has a much higher bunion recurrence rate.” He explains that the new surgical technique “treats the root of the problem and addresses the deformity in all three planes”.

Dr. Perler uses a foot model on set to give viewers an idea of how Lapiplasty® differs and shares that “Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ allows patients to walk earlier, recover faster, [and helps reduce the chance of recurrence.]”1
